Residence permit & visa

You may require a work and/or residence permit if you want to live and work in the Netherlands. Whether or not you require a permit depends among others on your home country. Citizens of EU and EEA countries or Switzerland for instance do not require a visa. What kind of visa or permit you might need also depends on the length of your stay. Services at the Utrecht International Center

The Utrecht International Center helps internationals on their arrival and with their residency in the Netherlands. You can visit the center to submit your biometrics, collect your residence document or endorsement sticker with the IND. You can also make a combined appointment to register with the municipalities of Utrecht, Amersfoort, Hilversum, De Ronde Venen, Woerden and Oudewater, while collecting your residence permit. And get answers to your settling-in questions at the helpdesk.

You can make an appointment with the Utrecht International Center to:

  • Submit your biometrics such as fingerprints and picture
  • Collect your residence document
  • Collect your residence endorsement stickers

Please note: have you applied with the IND to collect your permit at the Utrecht International Center before August 19th 2024? In this case, you don’t need to pay the service fee. Instead of filling in the appointment form, please send an email to info@utrechtinternationalcenter.com and include:

  • Proof that the application was submitted with the IND before August 19th, 2024.
  • Full name and date of birth.
  • Preferred date of appointment.

Do you not want to pay for the collection of your permit? Make sure to select one of the IND desks in Zwolle, Amsterdam, ’s-Hertogenbosch or the Hague, when choosing a location on your residence permit application form by the IND. The IND offers these services free of charge.

Requirements

If you want to arrange your IND formalities at the Utrecht International Center, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • You will live or work in Utrecht Region. If you live or work outside Utrecht Region, you need to make an appointment at one of the other international centres or IND desks.
  • You have received a letter by the IND stating that you can make an appointment with the Utrecht International Center to have your biometrics taken, to arrange your residence permit, or collect your residence permit.
  • You have requested your residence document to be sent to the Utrecht International Center.

You are required to bring the following documents to your IND appointment. Please note: this goes for each individual so if you bring family members to the appointment, make sure they bring their documents as well.

  • Valid identification such as a passport.
  • Your (expired) residence document. Or the official report of loss or theft from the police if your residence document was lost or stolen.

If you fulfil above mentioned criteria you can make an appointment at the Utrecht International Center.

After completing the form, you will receive an email with a link to book a day and time slot for your appointment at the Utrecht International Center. If you don’t receive this email within an hour, check your spam folder and contact the Utrecht International Center at info@utrechtinternationalcenter.com - please include the name and the email address you used to book the appointment.
