Health insurance
Health insurance is compulsory for everyone who lives or works in the Netherlands. This is also the case when you are temporarily working or living in the country. With a standard health insurance, your costs of, for example, a hospital treatment, prescription medication or a consult with a general practitioner, will be (partially) covered.
Other types of insurances
In addition to compulsory Dutch health insurance for people who live or work in the Netherlands, you can also obtain other types of insurance. Private insurance is available for liability, residential premises, home contents, travel, vehicles and so on. We recommend that you read up on some of these options.
