Royal Welcome Event: the party moves to Amersfoort this year!

King Willem-Alexander and family will be celebrating his birthday in Amersfoort on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Watch with us as Amersfoort transforms into an orange paradise! The celebration of King's Day with the royal family is a unique opportunity for both the city and the region. Regional partners will join forces en masse to throw an amazing party for thousands of visitors from the city, region, and country.

Coverage of activities on and around King's Day
The news network NOS will live-broadcast two hours of the Royal family's procession through the center of Amersfoort on the day, itself. Hundreds of journalists from home and abroad will be flooding the city to report on the numerous activities planned leading up to and  throughout the King's Day weekend. In addition, NOS will broadcast the King's Day Concert on Friday, 26 April, which will also be taking place in Amersfoort this year, in honor of the King's visit. 

An amazing experience for Utrecht Region Internationals
As many of you know, the week leading up to King's Day is very colorful and often wildly entertaining. Locals and internationals alike flood the streets with music and good cheer, enjoying the ambiance of the city-wide party or selling their second-hand goods, often for a very small price! ITC and its partners at the City of Amersfoort and Utrecht Province could not ignore the unique opportunity for our internationals to catch a glimpse of the King and his family on the celebration of his birth, so are joining forces to organize a special Royal Welcome Event in the midst of the action, in Amerfoort, itself.

If you can't make it to Amersfoort, however, don't worry too much. The party will still carry on in Utrecht, with or without the King's presence! If you would like to join the party with us in Amersfoort, stay tuned for the latest updates here and on social media!
