Located just outside Amsterdam and set within the characteristic green Dutch polder landscape, Abcoude is a charming town with many beautiful historic houses and characteristic buildings. The town has a range of shops, sports facilities and restaurants; in sunny weather, the sidewalk cafes are packed. Each year, ‘Abcouder Feestweek’ takes place with its famous horse market and funfair. Amsterdam can be reached by car or train in 10 minutes and Utrecht in 30 minutes.
There are numerous opportunities for recreation close to the town. Lakes like Vinkeveense Plassen and Abcoudermeer are nearby and you can also sail along the Amstel to Amsterdam. Abcoude also affords direct access to an attractive network of hiking and cycling trails.
